We love festivals and we love reggae!!!

On September 01, 2023 we are hosting a 3-day reggae festival in our community Schaafheim, (Darmstadt-Dieburg) Hesse. We are 3 women who got to know each other through a start-up network, we studied music management and marketing and are starting again together. So far we have been completely on our own and unfortunately we have not yet found any sponsors who can support us. We all work part-time, have our own business and I am a mother of 2 children. We are very busy but we can’t do it alone and need your support.

As a Jamaican, I live and love everything that has to do with German-Jamaican culture and music. Through the many years in Schaafheim, I feel very connected to the Hessian culture and the people. Now a unique opportunity has arisen to combine these two cultures in the form of a reggae festival in Schaafheim. This is the Touchroad Festival, which will take place from September 1st to 3rd, 2023 on the Röhrigeck square. Already in 2020 we started planning the festival, but then unfortunately COVID got in the way. Now we can tackle it again and hopefully carry it out.

The festival is mainly about bringing different cultures together and celebrating reggae music with around 10 Afro-Caribbean artists. The topics, community, diversity and „One love“ (Bob Marley) are very important. Our concern is to bring more love and joy to our community and to ensure more exchange and attention, integration in Germany. Our festival should be a meeting place for the whole family and convey sustainable, conscious values. Reggae music gives a feeling of unity, although we are different, we all want the same thing, love and peace!

The core idea of this event is to create a common mindset with a clear focus on the meaning and purpose of the festival. We hope that all supporters, including staff, artists, sponsors and ambassadors of this event, will transport and wear this authentically. It’s about promoting values such as sustainability, protection of the environment and resources, respect and integration.

We will offer various artistic performances such as improvisational theater, poetry, art, dance and music. Also, we aim to showcase Afro & Caribbean food and drink to give visitors an authentic experience. In order to meet the needs of the youngest festival visitors, we would like to provide a bouncy castle.

We lost a lot in 2020 due to Corona and we had almost lost hope for a festival. We’ve lost a lot of people and good times in the last 3 years and we want to rebuild and give the artists a chance to play live again and put a lot of joy on people’s faces.
